I prayed this would never happen, yet it did in our backyard.  The whole community is affected, no matter where you go in town someone knows somebody touched by this tragic event.  I have received several emails, texts, and messages about life saving items that people suggest to add to the Code Red Comfort Packs.  As I try to wrap my head around the loss and sorrow our community, friends, and children are dealing with, I am beyond heartbroken.

If you see this post and have a child in school, or know of a child in school.  PLEASE SHARE THIS IDEA.  YOU CAN BUILD ONE TODAY! All items you can purchase at your local store. This idea is to provide comfort to a class in the event of a lockdown.    In the horror that has happened at our Majory Stoneman Douglas High School, no comfort would have been had from a backpack.  I will do what I can to help in any way possible.  As I receive suggestions for additional items that might help in a lockdown, we will update the website.

One Mother, Anita, took on the project over the summer to raise funds and build Code Red Comfort Packs for her child’s school.  With the help of Maplewood Elementary parents, staff, and generous corporate donors, Anita was able to deliver Code Red Comfort Packs to ALL the teachers at Maplewood Elementary.   53 Teachers and over 1200 students will have a Code Red Comfort Pack to help provide comfort in the event of a school lockdown.
